The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) through the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) has announced its External Student Internship & Project Trainee Scheme, beginning 1st January 2026.
This prestigious program offers students across India and abroad an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Science and Technology research at one of the most respected space research organizations in the world.
Internship Scheme
Eligibility:
- Open to UG/PG/PhD students (citizens of India) from recognized universities/institutions (India/Abroad).
- Students who have completed their degree within the last 6 months are also eligible.
- Minimum 60% aggregate marks or CGPA 6.32/10 required.
Duration:
- Minimum 45 days.
Student Project Trainee Scheme
Students can apply for academic project work under the guidance of ISRO/IIRS faculty.
Eligibility & Duration:

All applicants must hold a minimum 60% or CGPA 6.32/10.
General Information
- Only Indian nationals are eligible.
- Selection depends on faculty availability, seats, academic record, and research relevance.
- Applications are accepted online only, twice a year:
- 31st October
- 31st March
- Documents required:
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) / Recommendation letter from the institution
- Academic records
- ID proof & college ID
- Internship/project duration: 45 days – 1 year
- No stipend or accommodation provided.
- A certificate will be awarded upon successful completion.
Additional Information
- Interns/trainees will only be allowed access to unclassified ISRO areas.
- Publishing papers or reports based on ISRO project work requires prior clearance.
- Selection intimation will be sent via email & student login portal.
- Students not selected will not be informed.
