About the Role
The Financial Analyst role is part of the Regulatory Reporting team within American Express’s Financial Reporting Cluster. This team is responsible for delivering Bank Holding Company regulatory reports in line with Federal Reserve requirements.
The role involves preparing, reviewing, and analyzing financial information with a strong emphasis on compliance, internal controls, and accuracy. You will also work closely with market financial controllers, subject matter experts, legal teams, technology partners, and regulators.
This position is ideal for professionals who have prior experience in financial reporting, US GAAP, regulatory filings, or external reporting and want to take their career to the next level in a high-impact role.
Key Responsibilities
As a Financial Analyst, you will:
- Prepare regulatory filings and supporting documentation/schedules.
- Strengthen controls and compliance frameworks, including SOX processes.
- Ensure reporting compliance with Federal Reserve regulations and company policies.
- Support automation and simplification projects to transform reporting processes.
- Assist senior managers in responding to inquiries from regulators and internal teams.
- Coordinate with subject matter experts, controllers, and reporting leaders.
- Demonstrate thought leadership while contributing to team culture and work-life balance initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
Academic & Professional Background
- Chartered Accountant (CA) / CPA preferred
- 1–2 years of experience in Financial Accounting / Reporting
- Experience with U.S. regulatory/SEC reporting or public accounting is a plus
Functional Skills
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Familiarity with SOX/PRSA controls and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with senior stakeholders
- Strong analytical mindset and passion for process improvement
- Project management skills are an added advantage
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word
- Knowledge of platforms such as Oracle, Essbase, and RRA architecture
- Ability to understand and enhance the control environment for filings
